Ken Crawford served as the mayor of Port Rupert from 1994 to 2003, presiding over a period of municipal development and community growth on Vancouver Island. Following the disappearance of Matthew Nichols in 2001, Crawford publicly advocated for increased cooperation between local authorities, search organizations, and surrounding municipalities. He remained in office until 2003 and continues to be remembered in the region for his tenure as a steady municipal presence during a challenging period for the community.
